One benefit of the snacks that you probably already realize is and might share with your daughter if you are at a teachable moment when she is receptive is that snacks keep the blood sugar and appetite steady so there is not a scary feeling of being too hungry at the time of the next meal.  When she is weight restored and on maintenance, the snacks will be very useful in keeping her in her target range as there is less temptation to eat too much (I mean binge but I don't know if your daughter has had that problem).  My daughter's doctor told her that everyone should have 3 meals and 2 snacks for their whole life.
