This was the first book I read after my daughter was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. This book described my daughter's behaviors perfectly. It helped me come to terms and understand why she behaved the way that she did and that she was desperately ill. The book does portray Eating Disordered thinking and behaviors very accurately. However, it does not empower or involve parents in the treatment of their child's illness. I felt completely lost regarding how to help my daughter recover.

Separating (Externalizing) the illness from the patient, 24/7 care and chronic negative thinking were the things I learned from this book.

Great book that gave me the concept of the negative mind & separating the illness from the self. I agree that the author was very light on in the how to help & what to do.
