Please Note: F.E.A.S.T. is not able to evaluate the philosophical approach or quality of the groups below. Some support groups may be facilitated by or have an atmosphere that is based on older treatment models that distance or blame parents. F.E.A.S.T. advises parents to research in advance and to seek optimistic, science-based support environments that help parents be engaged and assertive.

FFED: family & friends of the eating disordered

What: A support group for those living &/or dealing with an eating disordered person

When: Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm

Where: Hyde Park Counseling Center,* 207 W Verne Street, Tampa, FL 33606

Why: Anyone who lives with or cares about someone struggling with an eating disorder is also a victim of the disease. The fear, anger, frustration, and worry do not need to be endured alone. ffed meetings provide an environment of mutual support in which to share and learn how to better take care of ourselves while dealing with the disordered person. We work together to achieve an understanding of how to cope with, while not contributing to, the disease.

Who: Parents, spouses, siblings, friends, and anyone who is in regular contact with the eating disordered.

Contact Marjie Ruth via phone (727-244-9011) or email (sruth1@tampabay.rr.com) with questions and to confirm availability.  All meetings are free.
