« Ah, kindness.
A simple way
To tell another struggling
Soul that there
Is love to be found
In this world »
I found this quote recently, and it sums up what I try to put into practice each day. Being kind…always. Equally important for someone providing peer support is to give hope…a key message given to parents reaching out to F.E.A.S.T. for support. Hope that recovery is possible at every age and stage of illness.
F.E.A.S.T. ‘s volunteer parent support team is ready to respond to emails (firstname.lastname@example.org), voicemails, or Live Chats (blue button on our website) for any parent/carer worldwide who is struggling and has questions about how to support their loved one with an eating disorder.
In addition, F.E.A.S.T. ‘s peer support forums, Around the Dinner Table, and Around the Dinner Table Facebook, also in Spanish, connect carers all over the globe who share insights, ask questions, and provide mutual support to those helping their family member with an eating disorder. The Facebook forum is a closed group, and only available to carers who respond to the 3 moderator questions before being admitted to the group. Anything shared there is not visible to one’s regular Facebook friends.
Kindness and hope…gosh, don’t we need both more than ever during these crazy times? I, along with all F.E.A.S.T.’s parent support team and forum moderators, stand ready to provide both to parents and carers around the globe 24/7.
