Men of F.E.A.S.T.

Starting THIS Thursday, March 25. New log-in link below!!

FEAST is introducing a support and skill-building group for men whose lives are impacted by eating disorders (ED’s). The goal of the Men of FEAST group is to activate, educate, and motivate men in caring for themselves and becoming more supportive and effective as caregivers, team members, and partners in the ongoing treatment of eating disorders.

The Men of FEAST will introduce, teach, and foster an understanding of evidence based treatment and offer other tools to help men develop a variety of skills (e.g., Self-Care, Broken Record, Distress Tolerance, Mindfulness, etc.) in support of refeeding, neural rewiring, and full recovery. Specific caregiving skills will be presented as necessary tools for men to acquire, practice, and refine for the journey toward recovery, and strategies for tool use will be discussed at each bimonthly session. The presentation part of each meeting will be recorded for FEAST social media (only the presenter will be recorded), accommodating men who could not attend and extending the group’s outreach to those throughout the ED community.

“We’ve begun coming together to learn and support one another, and that leads us to better support our loved ones and partners as we work toward eating disorder recovery,” said Kevin Dunn, a FEAST dad.

“Men can be supportive and effective caregivers. If there’s an existing speed bump or barrier suppressing their full support for recovery…whether that’s lack of eating disorder awareness, insufficient understanding of the inherent complexities, pre-existing judgments about the illness, lack of partner/caregiver unity, or life circumstances that are limiting full participation…whatever the speed bump, we want to help level that barrier and activate more men as caregivers on the road to recovery.”

Men of FEAST sessions are open to all interested attendees and are focused on providing support while building critical caregiver skills that can promote and sustain eating disorder recovery. Brief “working” modules to plan future sessions will follow the support and skill-building components of each meeting, and are again open to all who wish to attend.

Thank you for starting this much needed group. I will most likely not be able to attend the sessions during that time so am very much interested in the recordings. Please do keep me in the loop. David Wolf

    Hi Kevin,

I joined the last minute, due to misunderstanding the time difference here in the UK! Can you share a link to the recording and resources?

    Yours, Joe
