In remembrance of the much loved Libby Rose who passed away recently with bulimia nervosa aged just 16, please take time to read her Family Statement

Libby Rose: A Family Statement

It is with inconceivable sadness and anguish we share the devastating news that our beautiful Libby has passed away.

Everyone who knew her will share our indescribable grief.

The world has lost an intelligent, free-spirited, charismatic and deeply loved young woman.

Libby matched empathy and responsibility with vivaciousness and spirit.

Articulate, challenging and endlessly energetic, be it enjoying nature or having fun with her friends.

For four years, in her typically private, determined way, Libby fought against Bulimia.

This cruel condition does not respect beauty, determination, character or courage.

It has taken a girl who was both responsible and rebellious, reserved but effervescent.

Whether it was befriending the vulnerable, mentoring others or showing independence of spirit, Libby showed a strength of character and compassion which will never be forgotten.

The brightest of girls, with the brightest of futures, has been taken from us all.

Libby was deeply loved and our memories of her will never be dimmed, even though no light will ever pierce the darkness her passing has left within us.

We will always grieve for her, but always be thankful to have been blessed to share our lives, so tragically briefly, with such a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.

I've been off the forum for a few months, so I've just seen this sad news of your great loss. Libby Rose sounds like a remarkable, unforgettable, beautiful young person. Her life will be cherished forever by all whom she left. Much sympathy and gratitude to her family, for sharing her memory with all of us working to help our children recover from these terrible diseases.

My heart breaks for your loss. There are no words, really. Your family is in my prayers, for strength now and in the days to come. Thank you for sharing your story, as it will help others in their struggles. My daughter shares many of the characteristics of Libby and we just realized she is struggling with bulimia. Such bright girls and such a devastating illness. Lots of prayers going up
