F.E.A.S.T. became one of the first eating disorders organizations to endorse the Coalition for the Advancement and Application of Psychological Science Consensus Statement today.

This statement, which says in part, "Evidence-based practice begins with consideration of the best available basic and applied empirical research evidence when making decisions about mental and behavioral health services" is a step forward in the important work of moving from myths and assumptions to evidence-based practices.

One of our Founding Principles says "Patients should receive evidence-based treatment, when available."

Families seeking mental health care for an unwell loved one deserve to know that the care they are offered is well-grounded and effective. Where there is evidence, we expect it to be used in decision-making. Where evidence is sparse, we expect it to be pursued. Our loved ones deserve the best chance at robust recovery and leading their full lives.

F.E.A.S.T. CEO, Laura Collins Lyster Mensh, announced the agreement saying "We do not believe there is a single solution for any diagnosis. We do believe starting with science-literate training and treatment is the best way forward."
