Did you know that F.E.A.S.T.’s Parent Support Lines are open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Sometimes caregivers are looking for advice, information, and resources on a specific topic. Sometimes they observe behavior in their loved one affected by an eating disorder and want to know if it’s “normal”. Sometimes they are feeling scared and alone and desperate to connect with someone who can understand what they are going through. No matter what it is that parents and other caregivers are looking for, the dedicated volunteers who staff F.E.A.S.T.’s Parent Support Lines are ready and waiting to help.
Our Parent Support Lines are run under the capable leadership of Daryl Madill, who makes sure that each day of every month is covered by a volunteer, that these volunteers are given a comprehensive orientation and training, and that the vast array of resources that F.E.A.S.T. offers parents through the support lines are up-to-date and organized.
Our devoted Parent Support Lines volunteers give of their time on weekends, holidays, and their days off. They realize how important it is that there is always someone there on the other end of a chat, email, or phone call of a parent in need.
The Parent Support lines are also an integral part of F.E.A.S.T.’s FIRST30Days service; a link to the support lines is built into each day of FIRST30Days so that parents can ask one-on-one questions through the support lines about the material that they are learning or about related caregiving issues and receive thoughtful, personal responses.
The Parent Support Lines, like all of F.E.A.S.T.’s resourceful services, are sustained through the donations of our wonderful parent community. Please donate here and help us keep this critical and valuable channel of support up and running.
