Nicki Wilson

Nicki Wilson’s involvement with F.E.A.S.T. , like so many, began when she resorted to an online search for information to better understand the eating disorder threatening her daughter’s life. Before finding F.E.A.S.T., Nicki’s daughter and family had struggled in isolation, without knowledge or hope.

F.E.A.S.T. and the Around the Dinner Table forum provided the resources and support for Nicki and her husband to gain strength and direction — through connection with others, along with a greater understanding of the illness that her daughter and her family were struggling with.

With her daughter now in strong recovery, Nicki feels it is a privilege to be working with the F.E.A.S.T. team to ensure carers around the world find and connect with F.E.A.S.T., and receive the support, strength, knowledge and courage so vital in their loved one’s path to recovery.

Nicki lives in Auckland New Zealand and is President of the Eating Disorders Association of NZ (EDANZ). She works full time as a volunteer providing support to carers, educating and advocating for improved eating disorder treatment for patients and their families.

Nicki is committed to promoting a collaborative care model of eating disorder treatment, where family and loved ones are recognized as integral members of the treatment team. Nicki attends conferences nationally and internationally to remain up to date with the latest research and knowledge in eating disorder treatment, and is a regular speaker to health professionals and those working with young people. She has tutored Otago Uni 5th year med students, and educated general practitioners, teachers, nurses and community groups.
