The Magic Plate Award Winner Is….Fiona Bromelow!

Congratulations, Fiona, on being the 2020 recipient of F.E.A.S.T.’s Magic Plate Award! What a well deserved honor!

Fiona was a founding member of the F.E.A.S.T. Board of Directors, retiring last year at the end of her third 3 year term. She has been a quiet, steady volunteer throughout the years. Fiona has served as a moderator on our forum Mod Squads for many years, and she’s been involved with more projects and conference planning committees and review groups than anyone could possibly enumerate. She has been a UK Task Force representative and a hard-working advocate and cheerleader for F.E.A.S.T. in her regional advocacy in the UK.

In the words of F.E.A.S.T.’s Executive Director, Laura Lyster-Mensh, “F.E.A.S.T. would be a different and poorer place without Fiona having been part of it. No award would be enough to show the depth and breadth of her influence, or of our appreciation, but it’s a token of the regard with which we hold her.”

Fellow Around the Dinner Table moderator, Bronwen, commented, “Fiona is a great choice for the Magic Plate award. I worked with Fiona as moderator for more than 6 years. She was the wise lead moderator when I started. Her sense of humour and common sense were much appreciated.”

Daryl Madill, Chair of the F.E.A.S.T. Board of Directors, chimed in, “Fiona was well-respected as a fellow moderator on the Around the Dinner Table forum. Her kind and thoughtful responses made her a valuable team member. It was truly delightful to have had the opportunity to meet her in person in Chicago and NYC during our 1st and 2nd Annual FEAST of Knowledge events.”

Suzanne B. characterized Fiona as “an unbelievably kind and welcoming person with a wealth of knowledge who always offers wise and fair counsel.  Fiona has a wonderfully dry sense of humour (much appreciated by us Brits!) and will often have us chuckling away at her fabulous use of language and turn of phrase.”

Here’s what Helen had to say: “Fiona is a fearsome source of knowledge and in depth research. She has an ability to call someone out on something in the kindest, most diplomatic, self effacing way! Fiona’s wry and indeed dry sense of humour reeks “British” and her absolute commitment to good evidence based practice is invaluable. F.E.A.S.T. is lucky to have had Fiona onside for almost as long as it’s been up and running. I’ve always learned something from her. She’s got the biggest, kindest heart, and flies the F.E.A.S.T. flag in the most unassuming but triumphant way. I can’t think of anyone better to receive the honour of the Magic Plate Award!”
