Find out everything you wanted to know about FEAST of Knowledge 2020 by watching this terrific interview of F.E.A.S.T. Executive Director Laura Collins Lyster-Mensh, conducted by World Eating Disorders Action Day organizer Amy Cunningham, in honor of World Eating Disorders Action Day.
June 2nd (today!) is World Eating Disorders Action Day, a collective effort by volunteers in over 45 countries to get the message out that “We Can’t Afford to Wait.” It is a call for global action urging governments to ensure immediate, evidence based treatment for affected individuals, support for their families, and better eating disorders training for health care professionals.
In the interview, Laura discusses how FEAST of Knowledge will work, why it is important for caregivers to attend even if they are not active caregivers, and who besides caregivers comes to FEAST of Knowledge. You may be surprised to find out that over 20% of the people who attend FEAST of Knowledge are actually treatment providers and other eating disorders professionals.
Laura concluded the interview by speaking about the global nature of F.E.A.S.T, and about how F.E.A.S.T. is here to help families everywhere.
When asked about her motivation to participate in this interview, Laura responded, “World Eating Disorders Action Day is very much in the spirit of what F.E.A.S.T. does all year: it’s community-driven, collaborative, global, and grass-roots advocacy. It is people gathering for one purpose: to raise awareness together and build a community that will work together the rest of the year as well. I’m proud to be a World Eating Disorders Action Day supporter!”
